Lines: An Exploration of the Natural and the Urban

I worked on this project several years ago when I was first discovering film photography. I was interested in the impact that the simplicity of lines can have on the senses. I discovered a strong sense of melancholy when developing these shots. Some are even reminiscent of death. The contrast between the natural and the urban brings out these emotions more than if the two settings were presented separately. Human perception is highly volatile and things as ubiquitous, yet varied as shade, lighting, setting, form and composition play a significant role in influencing it.
